In November of 2008 Andy Levenkron's wife, Wendy, was diagnosed with breast cancer. With her family's support and her own strong conviction, she underwent a mastectomy procedure, chemotherapy and a clinical trial. Wendy is currently living cancer free, but suffers long-term skin damage and discomfort caused by medical procedures both during and after treatment.
Likewise, when Desiree Reid - a former senior cosmetics executive and senior vice president at IMAN Cosmetics - witnessed her family member's pain and discomfort as she went through medical treatment for breast cancer, she yearned for something to ease the pain and irritation.
Symptoms like red spots, hot spots, cracking skin, dry and itchy skin, irritation and nail damage came as an added shock for both women. When asked about products to alleviate their irritated skin symptoms, both women's doctors could only offer limited, short-term suggestions.
So when Andy, COO of SkinScience and Dr. Denese Skin Care and co-founder of "Full Circle Creations," met with Desiree, their vision was to develop a product line that would be safe, effective and comforting for those individuals whose skin has been compromised because of their medical treatment.
